A tuneful exploration of black empowerment using music and culture through footwear.
My youthful love of Jazz and musical instruments carried the inspiration for my final major project. I wanted to draw a connection with the history and connotations of music in association with the black community.
Using Nina Simone's song - four women as the springboard.
All prototypes have a 3D printed sole created by a curated algorithm on rhino (using the grasshopper software) - that transforms any song / soundwave from a 2D form into 3D. Knits inspired by ghanaian cloth kente + soundwave algorithm
