Combining recycled plastic fibers, merino wool, and Elastomeric yarns, I create unique three-dimensional swatches that push the envelope of knitwear. The stripes and pleats are knit with a complex chain of commands; each swatch is created manually on the domestic knitting machine as one uninterrupted piece, not cut-and-sewn. Aiming to subvert prevalent standards of machine-made footwear, I strive for uncontrollable exuberance, not rationalized efficiency, pushing designs to materialize as wearable sculptures that provoke a childlike charm and an unnerving textural presence.
