The 'Layers' Boot design draws its inspiration mainly from deep-sea ecosystems that are in danger of extinction. The hybrid human figures in Alexander McQueen's Plato’s Atlantis collection are the muse of this footwear range which symbolizes the danger if customers don’t stop over-consumption. The recycled heel design can be thought of as a plastic-bone hybrid extension of the human foot. Layers boot is a multifunctional design since it can be worn with the zip open or closed. The heel is made from HDPE Recycled plastic to prevent waste and water pollution to a certain extent.

Damla Stilla is a London based Turkish footwear designer currently enrolled on the BA Cordwainers: Footwear course at UAL: London College of Fashion. Damla grew up learning artists from the age of 7, and this is reflected in her work. Alluring abstract shapes in Damla’s shoe designs are inspired by abstract art and her cultural background. Damla uses traditional shoemaking methods and technology together. Renowned logo design is inspired by Damla’s name, meaning raindrop, merged with devil eye symbolizes protection according to old beliefs.
