Injuries were a persistent challenge for basketball players. Thus, I designed a basketball shoe that reduces injury risk and supports more confident performance. Based on my research of basketball players and inspirations from Vancouver’s natural environment, I incorporated a gecko‑style outsole with directional grooves for strong multi‑directional grip, a lightweight protective microfiber material to ease impact during abrupt stops, a spider‑web‑inspired midfoot wrap that integrates with the laces to lock down the entire instep, and engineered mesh in the forefoot to improve its breathability
