Closed Loop Footwear is a modular sneaker designed for the circular economy. It combines self assembly, repair, and disassembly to extend product lifecycles and achieve maximum recyclability. The shoe is designed for decentralized manufacturing in small workshops using 3d printing and lasercutting. This allows for on-demand production and minimizes overproduction which further reduces waste. The concept utilizes innovative materials with excellent recycling and composting characteristics like banana fiber textile, hemp leather (both compostable and recyclable) and TPU (recyclable).
